CAVI Lemma: WG lekythos. Unattributed. Second quarter fifth.
CAVI Subject: Youth in chlamys and petasos, with drawn sword.
CAVI Inscriptions: At left, at shoulder height, a horizontal stoich. three-liner,
left-aligned(1): Ευαιων | καλος | Αισχυλο.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} lines 2 and 3 slope down slightly; line 1 is level.
CAVI Comments: R. Guy told me in 1986 that he thought the lekythos a modern copy of a
fragmentary lekythos at Indiana, which has the same inscription (this lekythos
is also mentioned in GettyMusJ, as Bloomington, Indiana). A forgery? Unclear
whether the sigma is three- or four-stroke.
