CAVI Lemma: BF/RF eye cup. Near Oltos (Int.); Thalia Painter (A-B). Chelis, potter. Last
quarter sixth.
CAVI Subject: Int.: BF: a satyr running with a drinking horn. Ext.: between eyes: A:
acontist. B: plant.
CAVI Inscriptions: Intr.: along margin, facing in, starting at right top: (Χ)(ε)λις
(ε)πο[ιεσ]ε{(.)}(ν){1}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} I combine my reading from CVA, pl. 96,3 [1.] with CVA's text [2.] and
ARV[2]'s [3.]: the first letter is given as chi by [2.] and [3.], but the photo
[1.] seems to show a kappa; the second letter is = four-stroke sigma in [1.],
the fifth is triangular [ibid.]. After επ ..., [2.] has [οι], [3.] has ο[ι]. At
the end, [1.] seems to have ε plus a bit of a stroke(?) plus reversed nu; [2.]
gives εσ[εν] (but De Ridder apparently gives the nu), and [3.] has εσ(ν), I read
ε(.)(ν).
