  • CAVI Collection: Florence 22 B 324.+
  • CAVI Lemma: Fragmentary oinochoe (chous). Near Eretria Painter{1}; Heimarmene Painter (?) (Lezzi-Hafter). Third quarter fifth.
  • CAVI Subject: Maenad with a lyre; satyr bending over, to lift a boy satyr; maenad putting on her himation.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: Above the satyr: Κισ[σ]ος{2}. To right of the right maenad's head: [Τ]ρ̣αγωιδια{3}.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} "More or less akin to the work of the Eretria Painter" (Beazley). {2} Κισ is on the Florence fr., ος on the Leipzig. {3} or [Τρ]αγωιδια(?). {4} In CF, Beazley says of Leipzig T 527, which "must join": head of satyr and upper part of boy satyr; above the former: [--](.)ος, but these letters are not incorporated in the name in CVA, GB 9, where the reading is still Κισ[σος]. In Para., however, Beazley gives Leipzig T 527 with a question mark. He also says that the reading `Kissos' "is extremely doubtful: only ...ος remains." K.-D. has correctly: Κισ[ Florence; ]ος Leipzig.
  • CAVI Comments: + Leipzig T 527{4}. - Cf. Oxford 534, ARV[2] 1258/1, L.-H. no. 211, which has Tragoidia as a sleeping maenad attacked by a satyr named Kissos. - For discussion of the names Tragoidia and Komoidia, also Phalloidia (on a bronze mirror) see Beazley in CVA, GB 9, p. vii, and Robertson in Robertson (1992), . - Mixed alphabet (mainly Ionic).
  • CAVI Number: 3690
