  • CAVI Collection: Bowdoin 13.8.
  • CAVI Lemma: RF column krater. From Gela. Unattributed{1}. Ca. 450.
  • CAVI Subject: A: Oedipus and the sphinx. B: man and woman.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: Under the foot, Grr.{2}, retr.: ΑΙΙΙΙΙ-{3}. Below: Αχενατω ^ Κορι[ν](θ)ι[οργεις] ΠΗ{4}.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} Hesp. reports an attribution by Beazley to the Group of Polygnotos; it is not in ARV[2] and Para. but is apparently accepted in Johnston (1979). {2} Κορι[ν]θι[ουργεις] ΠΙΙ Αχενατῳ. So the text in Hesp., inaccurately. {3} the last sign = Argive lambda (drachma sign). {4} Attic pi.
  • CAVI Comments: Johnston reads both Grr. together: A 10 obols (four obols and 1 drachma) and name plus batch notation. For ΠΗ see Johnston (1979), 232: perhaps emend to ΠΙΙ = 7 [giving a batch notation; the other Gr. giving the price]. Or πη[λινα](?) - Amyx took the name to be in the dative and this is apparently accepted by Johnston (see his n. 5) [but it is clearly omega for omicron upsilon, see AttScr (1990), 167].
  • CAVI Number: 2844
  • AVI Bibliography: Amyx (1958), 198 n. 79 (mention). — Johnston (1975), 160. — Johnston (1979), 167/24F 2, fig. 13,m (dr.). — NNN (1987), Bowdoin [alumni magazine] 61,1 (September 1987): 19 (A).
