CAVI Lemma: Fr. of BF plate. From Athens, Agora N 18:7. Unattributed{1}. Last quarter
sixth. Ca. 520-510 (Moore–Pease).
CAVI Subject: No figured decoration preserved.
CAVI Inscriptions: On the reserved rim, widely spaced, in BG: [--]λ[.]ια[---].
CAVI Footnotes: {1} compared by M.&P. to BF plates by Psiax.
CAVI Comments: M.&P. suggest [Μι]λ[τ]ια[δες], referring to Miltiades kalos on Oxford 310, RF
plate by Paseas, ARV[2] 163/8. The name, with kalos, would fill 1/2 of the
circumference, leaving room for another inscription. Another possibility is:
[Καλ[λ]ια[ς καλος] as on Malibu 86.AE.76, ex Bareiss 13. Para. (1971), 140/6, BF
neck amphora, 3-line Group. [The double lambda is not an obstacle to the second
suggestion.] Perhaps a bespoken piece.
CAVI Number: 0469
