CAVI Lemma: Frs. of BF lid (?). From Athens. Unattributed. Late sixth.
CAVI Subject: Wool working: fr. a: two seated women facing each other. Fr. b: kalathos;
woman seated and winding wool.
CAVI Inscriptions: Fr. a: between the two women, facing the woman at right: [Δ]ειμαχε, retr.{1}.
To right of the right woman, not facing her: Χ[οι]ριλονε, retr.{2}. Fr. b: to
upper left of woman: [Αρ]ιστομαχε̣. Further down: hεχε συ{3}. Below this
inscription: Χα̣[---]{4}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} Peek; Graef–Langlotz had restored [Κλ]ειμαχε, but this should be written
without the iota. {2} so Peek; Graef–Langlotz had read Χ...ιλονε. This could be
read retr. (facing the woman on the right): Χ[...]ριγονε, but it probably refers
to another (lost) woman on the right; Χοιριλονε should be related to Χοιριλη
(cf. Χοιριλος). Note that Peek read an additional rho. {3} Peek; misread as
hεσυχα by Graef–Langlotz. It is not certain that the inscription is complete
fore. Cf. also Threatte (1996), 750 (`perhaps' hέχε σύ). {4} Peek; I take this
to be the name of a lost person on the left, unless it is for χα̣[ιρε].
Graef–Langlotz wrongly read ΧΤ.
CAVI Comments: Frs. a - b.
CAVI Number: 1207
