- CAVI Collection: Athens, Triti Ephoria A 1877.
- CAVI Lemma: RF pyxis with lid. From Athens, tomb in Aeolus Street. Calliope Painter. Last
quarter fifth. 425-420 (Lezzi-Hafter).
- CAVI Subject: The bride Thetis seated to left, surrounded by nereids with gifts{1}.
- CAVI Inscriptions: Body: Θεω. Αυρα. Χρυσεις. Γαλενε. Αλεξο. Ψαμαθε. Θετις{2}. Ευλ[ιμενε].
[Γλ]α̣υ̣κε. Κυμοδο̣{δο}κε{3}.
- CAVI Footnotes: {1} ARV[2] 1707: Thetis and her sister Nereids. {2} BCH says Thetis, the ph.
shows [.]ετις. {3} so L.-H. P. 250 shows that this is the writing on the vase.
Meant for Κυματοδοκε(?). BCH also says: Γαληνη. Γλαυκη. Κυμοθοη. Μελιτη. I do
not know how reliable these readings are.
- CAVI Comments: L.-H. 249 thinks the scene are the Epaulia of the Wedding of Peleus and
Thetis. - Mixed alphabet. Xi 1 with vertical extending above and below the
horizontals if L.-H.'s rendering in cat. is correct.
- CAVI Number: 1881
