CAVI Lemma: BF Panathenaic prize amphora. Painter of Warsaw Panathenaic. Ca. 530.
CAVI Subject: A: Athena (shield device: centaur). B: a chariot.
CAVI Inscriptions: A: to right of the left column, bending at the bottom: τον Αθενεθεν
α[θ]λον{1}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} the missing theta would have come at the corner. My reading from CVA: τον
Αθε[ν]εθεν α[θ]λον. But a trace of the nu may be extant. The lambda is not
Ionic, as Brandt prints it in error.
CAVI Comments: Ex Breslau (Wroclaw). The letters are reasonably careful but the inscription
as a whole is casual: it moves away from the column and at the end bends into
the horizontal with the missing theta at the corner. CVA's text is not accurate.
CAVI Number: 8017
