- CAVI Lemma: WG lekythos. From Eretria. Achilles Painter. Third quarter fifth. 460/55-450
(Oakley).
- CAVI Subject: Two women: woman to right, with an offering tray from which hang fillets;
behind her, at top, a sash; woman to left with aryballos and chest; behind, a
stool and, at top, oinochoe hung up.
- CAVI Inscriptions: Between the two, below the top margin, horizontal stoich. left-aligned
three-liner: Διφιλος καλος Μελανοπ|ο{1}. ....... ..... . .......
- CAVI Footnotes: {1} Oakley prints ΜΕΛΑNΩΠ, but the ph. seems to show a complete circle for
the O, although there is a dot on the circle at 5 o'clock (a drip?). Beazley
says that the final omicron is put in line 2; hence no doubt a stoich.
three-liner.
- CAVI Comments: Mixed alphabet (Ionic with omicron for omega).The phs. are not very clear.
