In mythology, sister of Helen, wife of Agamemnon, and mother of Orestes and Electra. She kills Agamemnon, with the help of her paramour Aigisthos, and is in turn killed by Orestes; the former scene is shown in art but she may attend Aigisthos' slaying. Her weapon is an axe.
