The Great Exhibition

Even in London, in 1851, when the Great Exhibition was staged in the Crystal Palace, the opening of the 'Grecian Court' needed to be delayed until large fig leaves, and other means of concealment, could be found. Here, in some coloured engravings in the Museum of London you see the Italian Court (below left), the Greek and Turkish (below right), and, in a black and white photograph (further below), the Cast Courts.
