δο]κ̣ε̣ι :*{1}. On the inner: {2} Σαλαχς [:*] ε̣πο[ιε]σεν̣ :* ναι :*{1}.
CAVI Footnotes: {1} each inscription a perfect, planned, circle, but they are not coordinated
with each other.
CAVI Comments: From the rectangular rock-cut shaft. Estimated diameter 0.228m. Vanderpool:
σαλαξ is a miner's sieve; the name is unique, but appropriate for a slave or
metic; cf. Bechtel (1917), 603 for other professional names similarly formed.
Charias chosen by V. exempli gratia because it fits the available space. -
Moore–Pease (1986) have an inaccurate rendering of inscriptions.
